Anthropic adds /review — contract tool to Claude Cowork for small businesses

Anthropic has added a contract‑review skill called /review — contract to Claude for Small Business, bringing fast, automated contract analysis into the Claude Cowork environment. The feature lets users upload contracts directly into the app and receive annotated red flags and suggested edits, which can speed negotiations and reduce the need for initial outside legal review. The new tool is part of a broader rollout: a library of small‑business connectors and 31 prebuilt skills for Claude Cowork. Anthropic presents the collection as sample solutions vendors can extend, aimed at giving smaller companies access to enterprise‑style AI capabilities that they historically lacked the time or tools to adopt.

Using the contract skill requires a Claude Pro account (Anthropic’s $20/month tier is the minimum). In the app, users enable the Small Business plugin by opening Cowork → Customize → add the small business plugin, then trigger the skill by typing /review — contract and uploading their contract file. Published examples show a full analysis arriving in roughly five minutes.

Anthropic’s product messaging frames the rollout as addressing a resource gap for small businesses: Lina Ochman, Anthropic’s head of US SMB and product‑led growth, said the effort is intended to close the gap for companies that have lacked time and tools to adopt AI effectively. The company also highlights that vendors and integrators can extend the supplied connectors and skills.

Independent testing reported alongside the rollout found the contract skill produced clear, actionable annotations across multiple real documents. Senior editor David Gewirtz tested three files — a window company bid, a national fitness‑chain agreement (noting “Cancellation is deliberately hard”), and a caregiving contract evaluated under stress — and said the tool surfaced explicit issues and suggestions comparable in clarity to expensive attorney reviews.

For builders and integrators, /review — contract demonstrates how targeted skills can plug into business workflows: it generates shareable, chat‑visible red flags that can be delivered to counterparties during negotiation and combined with other connectors in Claude Cowork. At the same time, Anthropic’s documentation and early reporting flag permissions and data access as operational concerns, meaning implementers will need to design permission models and data‑handling safeguards before deploying the skill in production workflows.

The feature is available immediately inside the Claude app to users who enable the Small Business plugin and run Claude Cowork; access begins at the Claude Pro tier ($20/month). Reported testing occurred in the May 2026 announcement window and underscores the tool’s potential as a fast, practical contract‑review assistant for SMBs while also signaling integration and permission tradeoffs for developers and operators.
