Anthropic and NEC announces a strategic partnership for the large-scale implementation of AI technologies in Japan.

Anthropic and Japanese technology giant NEC Corporation have officially announced a major strategic partnership, under which NEC becomes Anthropic's first global partner in Japan. This agreement is designed to fundamentally transform the approach to developing and deploying artificial intelligence in the corporate sector. To achieve this ambitious goal, NEC will deploy generative Claude family technologies for approximately thirty thousand NEC Group employees worldwide. This will create one of Japan's largest organizations specializing in AI-driven development.

As part of their joint work, the partners will focus on creating secure, specialized industry-specific products for the Japanese market. Primarily, the new intelligent systems will be adapted for the needs of the financial sector, manufacturing companies, and local government bodies. As officially stated by Toshifumi Yoshizaki, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of NEC Corporation, this long-term collaboration will allow the company to fully unlock the potential of generative artificial intelligence in Japan.

Special attention in the concluded agreement is paid to information security issues. NEC Corporation has already begun integrating advanced Claude tools into the services of its Security Operations Center, which should help more effectively protect customers from increasingly complex cyber threats. Furthermore, Anthropic technologies will form the foundational basis for the corporation's developing next-generation cybersecurity service. Alongside this, Anthropic's flagship products, including the Claude and Claude Opus 4.7 models, as well as the specialized developer tool Claude Code, will be integrated into the comprehensive NEC BluStellar Scenario program.

The internal transformation of technological processes within the Japanese corporation itself relies on a well-established, long-standing initiative known as "Client Zero". Under this pragmatic approach, the company traditionally acts as the first customer of its own innovations before offering ready technologies to external clients. To achieve its artificial intelligence goals, NEC plans to establish an internal Center of Excellence. This structure will be responsible for forming a highly skilled engineering team that uses the Claude Code tool in its daily work. This entire process will be directly supported by Anthropic specialists through the provision of necessary technical support and training programs.

Currently, the large-scale deployment process of Claude family intelligent systems among tens of thousands of NEC Group employees worldwide has already entered an active operational phase. In addition to professional tools for programmers, the company also plans to significantly expand the use of the Claude Cowork solution in its daily internal business operations. Alongside the implementation of corporate systems, engineering teams from both companies are continuously co-developing specialized industrial products. The implementation of this agreement will accelerate value creation using the NEC BluStellar model and demonstrate new approaches to the secure deployment of generative networks in the industrial sector.
