Users describe the desired visual, and then the system generates an initial version. After that, they can make changes to achieve the desired result. For example, one can request to create a prototype of a meditation app with a minimalist design, and then adjust colors or add functionality such as a theme switcher.

While Claude Design can be compared to the popular app Canva, Anthropic emphasizes that their product complements it rather than replaces it. It is intended for quick visualization of ideas without the need for design skills, and finished projects can be exported to PDF, URL, or PPTX and edited in Canva.

Additionally, Claude Design implements a design system for the team, ensuring consistency across all projects. The system reads the company's code and design files, allowing teams to create and maintain their design systems, which simplifies work under limited time resources.

The launch of Claude Design highlights Anthropic's ambitious goals to expand its presence in the corporate tools space.
