Amazon Web Services (AWS) has significantly boosted its artificial intelligence capabilities with a series of announcements at its 'What’s Next with AWS, 2026' event. The company showcased a strategic focus on both broad AI assistance for general productivity and highly specialized agentic solutions tailored for complex enterprise needs. During the event, AWS CEO Matt Garman, SVP Amazon Applied AI Solutions Colleen Aubrey, CMO of AWS Julia White, and leaders from OpenAI discussed the transformative impact agents are having on how businesses operate and serve their customers.
Central to these developments is Amazon Quick, a new AI assistant for work designed to connect to various applications, learn user preferences, and take proactive action. Quick is now available with a new desktop application in Preview, allowing users to create a personalized experience by staying connected to local files, calendars, and communications without requiring a web browser. Further enhancing accessibility, new Free and Plus pricing plans have been introduced, enabling users to sign up rapidly using a personal email address or existing Google, Apple, GitHub, or Amazon credentials, bypassing the need for an AWS account.
AWS is also evolving its Amazon Connect service, moving beyond its contact center origins to a platform offering four distinct, specialized agentic AI solutions. These new solutions are engineered to integrate seamlessly into existing enterprise workflows across various domains. Amazon Connect Decisions focuses on supply chain planning and intelligence, designed to shift teams from crisis management to proactive strategy, leveraging 30 years of Amazon's operational science and over 25 specialized supply chain tools to adapt to businesses, learn from teams, and continuously improve operations.
Building on its established capabilities, Amazon Connect Customer, previously known simply as Amazon Connect, continues to deliver intelligent, personalized customer experiences across voice, chat, and digital channels. This solution now offers new configuration capabilities that enable organizations to set up conversational AI experiences in weeks rather than months, and configure these experiences without requiring deep technical expertise. The fourth specialized solution, Amazon Connect Health, delivers agentic patient verification, appointment management, patient insights, ambient documentation, and medical coding.
Further strengthening its AI ecosystem, AWS has expanded its partnership with OpenAI, aiming to bring frontier intelligence to customers on trusted AWS infrastructure. This collaboration makes the latest OpenAI models, including GPT-5.5 and GPT-5.4, available in Limited Preview on Amazon Bedrock, AWS's fully managed service for building and scaling generative AI applications. Customers can access these advanced models through the same Bedrock APIs they already utilize, benefiting from unified security, governance, and cost controls without configuring additional infrastructure.
Rounding out the enhanced OpenAI integration, Amazon Bedrock Managed Agents, powered by OpenAI, are also launching in Limited Preview. This offering combines frontier AI models with trusted AWS infrastructure, enabling customers to quickly and easily build production — ready OpenAI — powered agents directly in the cloud. These managed agents are built with the OpenAI harness, engineered to unlock the full potential of OpenAI frontier models by delivering faster execution, sharper reasoning, and reliable steering of long-running tasks.
These comprehensive announcements signal AWS's profound commitment to embedding artificial intelligence across a wide spectrum of applications and services. From empowering individual productivity with Amazon Quick to transforming enterprise operations with specialized Amazon Connect agentic solutions and providing access to advanced OpenAI models via Bedrock, AWS is positioning itself at the forefront of the agentic AI revolution. The emphasis on seamless integration, ease of use, and specialized functionality highlights a strategic move to enable businesses of all sizes to leverage AI for tangible operational improvements and competitive advantage in an evolving digital landscape.
