China Art Museum and Alibaba Launch Interactive Tours with Smart AI Glasses Qwen Glasses

The China Art Museum, in collaboration with the Alibaba technology corporation, has officially announced the launch of a fundamentally new format of interaction with visitors, by integrating Qwen Glasses smart glasses into its space. This innovative project aims to create a deeply interactive exhibition experience that will make the process of studying classical works of art more informative, technological, and natural. The debut of this initiative will take place on April 28 at the opening of the large-scale exhibition "Homage to the Masters: From Leonardo da Vinci to Caravaggio – Masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance".

At the core of this user experience is a sophisticated combination of computer vision and voice interaction technologies based on advanced Qwen artificial intelligence models. When a visitor stops in front of a particular painting, the smart glasses automatically provide reference information, highlighting important artistic details and contextual explanations. Unlike traditional audio guides with pre-recorded tracks, the new system supports a live and spontaneous dialogue format. Users can directly ask questions using voice commands, for example, asking: "Who is this figure in the painting?" or "Why is this work considered important?".

The integration of smart glasses into the museum environment is an organic part of Alibaba's broader global strategy to develop the market for AI-powered wearable devices under the single flagship brand Qwen. The full global premiere of Qwen Glasses took place a month earlier at the largest industry exhibition, Mobile World Congress (MWC), in Barcelona. The new device is positioned by its creators as an intelligent assistant for everyday life, fully freeing the user's hands. Deep integration of visual and voice capabilities allows the glasses to perform numerous complex functions in real-time.

Alibaba Group's entry into the smart optics segment has already demonstrated highly convincing commercial results in the domestic market. According to the latest statistical data from Wellsenn XR, an industry research firm specializing in the smart glasses industry, Qwen Glasses captured a significant 53 percent share of total online sales in China since their official market launch on March 8. Currently, this device confidently leads its category on major national e-commerce platforms, including Taobao and Douyin. This factor allowed the gadget to secure the top spot in the overall ranking within the entire e-commerce ecosystem, confirming a high level of consumer interest.

The strategic partnership between the China Art Museum and Alibaba demonstrates the rapidly growing potential of using generative artificial intelligence in traditional cultural institutions. By providing intelligent navigation, building personalized touring routes, and offering a deep dive into the creation stories of acclaimed masterpieces, new technologies make classical art significantly more understandable for a modern audience. However, the published materials do not disclose critically important technical details of the integration, such as the battery life of the glasses during continuous image recognition in exhibition halls or the necessity of a constant smartphone connection.
