Computer embeds in Microsoft Teams To orchestrate cross‑tool workflows: what developers gain

Computer, an AI agent that has performed the equivalent of more than $2.8 billion in labor since its launch a month ago, is being integrated into Microsoft Teams. The rollout follows a recent Slack release and targets Teams’ reported user base of more than 335 million people, positioning task orchestration inside the same chats, meetings and project threads where work already happens.

The Teams integration links Computer to common Microsoft services used across enterprises, including Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, Excel and Azure DevOps. Computer is also available in beta as a native Excel side panel so analysts can receive live assistance without leaving their spreadsheets. New Data App Connectors build a data map that lets approved users query Snowflake, Databricks and other sources in plain language while preserving dataset context for follow — up tasks.

Functionally, Computer can search the web and operate across connected tools to generate content, analyze business data and produce reports, presentations, apps and websites. It is designed to run longer background workflows as well-for example, preparing recurring market scans or converting daily customer support activity into Linear tickets — so routine processes can continue without constant human oversight.

The integration is already being positioned with concrete Teams use cases. Sample requests include comparing a budget workbook in Excel against invoices stored in SharePoint and posting a variance summary back to the channel, or drafting a meeting prep memo by reviewing Dynamics 365 notes, Outlook history and a OneDrive go-to-market brief. Those examples are meant to show how Computer combines documents and communication records to create actionable outputs.

Early adoption skews toward executive users: roughly 92% of C-level users reportedly interact with the agent weekly, which the vendor says reflects demand for cross — team answers without ad-hoc SQL queries or manual data pulls. Embedding the agent in channels aims to increase visibility and collaboration — team members can tag @Computer in a shared thread to refine a request together, or use direct messages for private drafts and research.

For builders and administrators, Computer functions as an orchestrator across a 400+ tool ecosystem while preserving conversational and document context within Teams. Queries surface in the agent app and respect permissions and workspace knowledge; tasks can be left running in the background. To invoke the agent, users tag @Computer in a channel for shared tasks or message it directly for individual work, and Excel users can access the side panel during analysis.
