Datadog for Government Achieves FedRAMP High Certification for US1 — FED GovCloud

Datadog announced that Datadog for Government has achieved FedRAMP High certification for its US1 — FED environment, enabling the platform to support the federal government’s most sensitive civilian workloads. The certification applies specifically to Datadog for Government operated in the US1 — FED — GovCloud and is intended to let agencies run higher‑sensitivity systems within a FedRAMP High‑certified deployment while retaining the same unified observability and security tooling.

The company began pursuing FedRAMP High in 2023 in response to public‑sector demand for a single, fully managed SaaS platform capable of continuous monitoring for sensitive workloads. FedRAMP High establishes a stricter security baseline than Moderate and targets cloud systems where an incident or outage could have a severe effect on agency missions, public trust, or national interest. The authorization attests that the offering meets expectations in NIST SP 800 — 53 Rev. 5 for confidentiality, integrity, and availability while continuing to deliver integrated observability and security features.

For engineering and security teams, the FedRAMP High certification means the platform is audit‑ready for higher‑sensitivity environments and aligned with federal control frameworks required for mission‑critical services. Datadog says the certified environment supports continuous monitoring, integrated detection and response workflows, automated change validation during deployments, and faster incident response in high‑impact contexts.

Operationally, Datadog states that all data for the FedRAMP High environment is processed and stored exclusively in the US1 — FED GovCloud under physical and logical controls designed to satisfy federal requirements. That single‑environment approach is intended to let agencies keep data and controls consolidated rather than spreading workloads across separate regions or tools when moving from Moderate to High impact levels.

Practically, the certification aims to reduce tool sprawl and provide a single managed path to scale observability and security across systems of varying sensitivity. Agencies currently authorized to use US1 — FED at FedRAMP Moderate can adopt the same platform capabilities for higher‑impact systems without introducing separate tools or new workflows. Achieving FedRAMP High fulfills Datadog’s 2023 commitment and is presented as a way for agencies to move faster while maintaining federal compliance and continuous monitoring for critical missions.
