Google adds interactive simulation and 3D model generation functionality to Gemini

Google has introduced a new feature in the Gemini app that allows generating interactive simulations and models directly within the user's chat. Previously, when prompted on complex topics, artificial intelligence was mostly limited to providing text-based responses accompanied only by static diagrams. Thanks to the current update, the neural network now provides functional visualizations that help better understand the subject of discussion. To use this feature, the user simply needs to use phrases such as "show me" or "help me visualize" a specific concept in their prompt. After this, a standard text query transforms into dynamic content available for independent exploration.

The mechanics of the new simulations offer a format of practical investigation, rather than just passive observation of the generated result. As a clear example, the developers cite a query about how the Moon orbits the Earth. Instead of a fixed illustration, Gemini creates an interactive model where users can manually move special sliders or input precise numerical values for parameters such as initial velocity and gravitational force. Such a feedback system allows users to instantly see how these specific variables influence the formation of a stable orbit, thereby transforming interaction with the chatbot into an active experiment.

In addition to orbital mechanics, the update covers a range of other complex scientific and mathematical phenomena. According to official data, users can employ new tools to rotate molecules or model complex physical systems. Specific examples demonstrated by the creators include visualizations of the principles of fractals, the mechanics of the double-slit experiment, and the complex motion of a double pendulum. As the original publication focuses exclusively on these physical and mathematical examples, the official announcement currently does not specify whether Gemini's algorithms are capable of generating similar interactive models for other scientific disciplines or fields.

To access this feature, certain technical requirements must be met. Users should visit the website gemini.google.com and make sure to select the Pro model in the input panel. Currently, the new feature is in a global rollout phase and is gradually becoming available to all users of the standard Gemini application. However, there are clear operational limitations: Google officially states that the interactive simulation generation feature is not yet available for Workspace corporate profiles and specialized Education accounts.

The transition from generating static images to creating functional simulations demonstrates the evolution of how conversational artificial intelligence can be used to study complex concepts. The integration of tools that allow direct manipulation of variables and immediate observation of results within a single chat window enables users to explore a topic of interest in more detail with a single query. Although the official announcement does not specify exact timelines for this feature's availability in educational and corporate accounts, the current global rollout already provides platform users with a tangible method for interacting with complex processes.
