Emergent, a startup from India, has launched Wingman, an autonomous AI agent that manages tasks through messengers like WhatsApp and Telegram. This is a step towards expanding the functionality of the platform, previously known for its vibe coding.
The Bangalore-based startup Emergent, known for its vibe coding platform, has introduced Wingman, an autonomous AI agent for task management through messengers. This product enhances the functionality that has already gained popularity with successful tools like OpenClaw and Claude from Anthropic.
Wingman provides users with the ability to assign and track tasks in WhatsApp and Telegram, operating in the background and interacting with emails and calendars. The agent performs routine actions independently, requesting permission for more serious operations.
Co-founder and CEO of Emergent, Mukunda Jha, noted that the company's growth has been made possible by the support of over 8 million users. Their vibe coding platform, which allows non-professionals to create applications using natural language, has attracted investor interest and secured the startup $70 million in funding in January at a valuation of $300 million.
Emergent aims to stand out among competitors by integrating Wingman into messengers that users are already familiar with, thereby eliminating the need to learn new software. The focus is on the fact that many workflows already occur in chats, and Wingman becomes part of everyday communication.
The Emergent team is aware of the limitations of their product. The agent may face challenges in situations with unclear goals or complex processes where human judgment is required. Testing and limited free access to Wingman have already begun, after which users will be able to use the agent only on a paid basis.
