Perplexity Expands Enterprise AI, Integrating with Microsoft Tools and Specialized Finance Data

Perplexity is significantly advancing its "Computer for Enterprise" platform. Following its launch last month, the company recently gathered enterprise and finance leaders in New York City to demonstrate how the platform has already become an integral part of their operations. During this event, Perplexity previewed upcoming features, emphasizing a commitment to deeper integrations, robust data connectors, and sophisticated workflow tools specifically designed to align with how teams naturally collaborate and execute tasks.

A core insight driving these expansions is the observation that many enterprise tasks originate from questions exchanged between colleagues. Building on its successful integration within Slack, Perplexity is now extending this seamless experience to Microsoft Teams, allowing users to interact directly via messages or integrate it into a channel. This move is significant given Microsoft Teams' over 350 million monthly active users worldwide. Additionally, Computer is now in beta as a native side panel within Microsoft Excel, enabling analysts to request assistance directly within their models, ensuring workflow continuity.

Recognizing the prevalence of repetitive tasks in enterprise and finance roles, Perplexity has introduced "Workflows" into its Computer platform. These workflows bundle prompts, contextual information, and desired output formats for specific business tasks into a single starting point. This addresses recurring needs for teams, whether in private equity, sales, or marketing. The platform currently offers a growing library of over 70 such workflows, which teams can share, customize, schedule, and run asynchronously, ensuring work progresses efficiently even when the initiator moves on.

For comprehensive AI assistance, Perplexity acknowledges that valuable insights often require deep integration with proprietary internal data. To facilitate this, Computer now includes new data connectors, modeled on Perplexity's internal custom connections. This allows teams to query and run tasks against internal datasets without manual copying or overburdening data science teams. Complementing data access is enhanced identity security through a new partnership with 1Password. This enables Computer to act on behalf of a user without underlying credentials ever touching the AI agent or model, ensuring all actions remain authorized, governed, and auditable.

Perplexity is also addressing specialized domains with the launch of "Computer for Professional Finance." This offering is built to overcome limitations of general — purpose AI in a field demanding rigorous sourcing, auditing, and precise vendor attribution. The system integrates directly with licensed providers such as Morningstar, PitchBook, Daloopa, and Carbon Arc for access to specialized financial data. It can also leverage Computer's off-the-shelf tools without a separate license. This finance — specific AI generates detailed tearsheets, annotated stock charts, and comprehensive equity research comparisons, with every figure meticulously linked back to its original source for full transparency.

These product advancements align with Perplexity's overarching vision for a "Personal Computer" where AI redefines the computing paradigm. This future posits a shift from instruction — based systems to objective — based ones, meaning work will be distributed across devices, operate continuously, and require less constant human monitoring. The "Personal Computer" concept aims to bring multi — model orchestration directly to a user's machine, working across local files, applications, and the web as a cohesive system. For instance, running on a Mac mini, it could operate 24/7, allowing a user to initiate a task from their phone and return later to find it completed.

Perplexity confirmed that all the mentioned capabilities are currently being rolled out to Enterprise customers. The integration of Computer within Excel is available in beta, with broader access planned for the near term.
