PredictIQ wins Forge the Future Hackathon In Singapore with maintenance-focused AI agent

At Elastic{ON} Singapore 2026, 77 participants in 21 teams built agentic AI prototypes in a four‑hour sprint using Elastic Agent Builder, with on‑site AWS support.

Seventy‑seven participants across 21 teams gathered at Elastic{ON} Singapore 2026 for the Forge the Future Hackathon, where teams had four hours to turn ideas into working agentic AI prototypes. The event ran in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and was supported on site by solutions architects who advised groups as they prepared for a March 2026 final.

Teams used Elastic Agent Builder as the primary toolset to design agents that do more than retrieve answers: submissions were expected to reason, recommend actions and provide contextual guidance for users. Organizers emphasized rapid prototyping with existing stacks and cloud services, and the on‑site technical staff helped teams integrate knowledge bases, connectors and explainability features within tight timeframes.

The Upside Devs, a multidisciplinary student team from Nanyang Technological University, won with PredictIQ — an agent that flags equipment likely to need maintenance and supplies engineers with a linked knowledge base intended to reduce downtime. Two other finalists demonstrated enterprise‑oriented use cases: The Ops Forge from Singapore Management University presented ElasticLens to surface the story behind resumes during hiring workflows, and Buckle Up 4 AI, from Standard Chartered Bank, delivered ElasticClaw to produce explainable decisions at scale. The March presentations were judged by Ken Exner (chief product officer), Desmond Loh (CSIT), Laurence Liew (AI Singapore) and Lim Wei Wah (AWS ASEAN).

Across the demos, practical patterns emerged that enterprise teams can iterate on: predictive maintenance, hiring augmentation and explainable decisioning. Entries consistently preserved technical detail, showing agents that integrate knowledge bases, generate explainable outputs and surface actionable recommendations for operators and hiring teams, rather than returning opaque scores or raw search hits.

Participants and judges said the hackathon reinforced that agentic AI prototypes can be assembled rapidly when teams combine existing software stacks with cloud support and focused experimentation. The event also dovetailed with Singapore’s national agenda on agentic AI: in February 2026 the government issued an agentic AI governance framework, and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced follow‑on initiatives aimed at workforce upskilling. Judges and participants underlined continuous learning and iterative, practical tests as necessary steps for safely adopting agentic systems into production.
