Vapi Valued at $500M After Amazon Ring Routes All Inbound Calls to Its AI Voice Platform

Vapi raised $50 million in a Series B led by Peak XV Partners at a post‑money valuation near $500 million after Amazon Ring chose Vapi’s AI voice platform over more than 40 competitors and now routes 100% of its inbound calls through the service — a major enterprise win that signals rising confidence in automated voice systems and controllable model behavior. The round, which included participation from Microsoft’s M12, Kleiner Perkins and Bessemer Venture Partners, brings Vapi’s total funding to $72 million, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Ring began evaluating vendors in mid‑Q4 last year as holiday call volumes surged and the team weighed adding call‑center headcount, traditional IVR systems, or AI agents. Vapi won the deployment in part because its platform gave Ring engineers granular control over live agent behavior and tuning. Jason Mitura, Ring’s vice president of software development, said customer satisfaction scores improved and teams could tweak experiences without direct engineering changes.

Vapi positions itself as an infrastructure and orchestration layer for voice agents rather than a maker of prepackaged applications. Its tooling supports use cases including customer support, lead qualification, appointment scheduling and outbound sales, and the company operates both an enterprise platform and a self‑serve developer option. Founders say Vapi’s self‑serve offering has been used by more than 1 million developers and was ‘‘battle‑tested’’ at scale before the company signed large enterprise customers, a claim the startup points to as evidence of production readiness.

Operational metrics underscore that readiness: Vapi reports it has handled over 1 billion calls to date and currently processes between 1 million and 5 million calls per day, with enterprise customers accounting for most of that volume. An investor source described Vapi’s annual recurring revenue as in the ‘‘healthy’’ eight figures. Beyond Ring, Vapi lists enterprise customers including Kavak, Instawork, New York Life, UnityAI, Cherry and Intuit. The startup has about 100 employees and plans to use the new capital to expand engineering, infrastructure and go‑to‑market teams. Participating investors cited the company’s scale and enterprise traction — highlighted by the Ring deployment under heavy customer‑service load-as reasons to back the round.
