At Google I/O on Tuesday, Warby Parker unveiled Intelligent Eyewear, its first smart glasses, developed in collaboration with Google and Samsung. The announcement marks Warby Parker’s formal entry into wearable hardware and highlights a glasses form factor designed for everyday use rather than a bulky headset. The launch matters because it embeds Google’s AI into a mainstream eyewear brand, which could change consumer expectations for everyday wearable AI.

The Intelligent Eyewear frames include built — in speakers and cameras and provide access to Google’s AI assistant via Google Gemini. The glasses run on Android XR, Google’s unified operating system for extended — reality headsets and glasses. Warby Parker showed a light, flexible dark-green nylon frame that will be offered both as sunglasses and as regular prescription — style glasses. Warby Parker declined to disclose pricing at the announcement. For context, Meta’s smart Ray — Bans—one of the dominant consumer — facing offerings since 2023 — currently appear on sale listings in a roughly $390 to nearly $500 range, giving a potential pricing band builders and buyers may use for comparison once Warby Parker sets a price.

The launch follows years of Google exploration in wearables: Google Glass debuted in 2013, and Google shipped an Android XR headset last fall that reviewers described as an affordable alternative to premium spatial computers. Shahram Izadi, Google’s vice president and general manager for Android XR, has said, “XR is going to be the next frontier for Gemini, and for AI,” framing the Warby Parker partnership as part of that broader strategy.

Market research underscores the opportunity. Bank of America projects smart‑glasses revenues could reach $4.2 billion by 2028, up from under $500 million in 2024. For developers and device makers, the combination of Android XR and Gemini in a mainstream glasses form factor signals new potential for XR apps, voice and camera interactions, and consumer — oriented AI experiences once Warby Parker announces pricing and availability.
